Heut lebst du, heut bekehre dich, | Today you live, repent today, |
Eh morgen kommt, kann’s ändern sich; | before tomorrow comes everything can change; |
Wer heut ist frisch, gesund und rot, | Who today is fresh, healthy and rosy |
Ist morgen krank, ja wohl gar tot. | tomorrow is sick, even already dead. |
So du nun stirbest ohne Buß, | If you die now without remorse, |
Dein Leib und Seel dort brennen muß. | your body and soul must burn herafter. |
Hilf, o Herr Jesu, hilf du mir, | Help, o Lord Jesus, help me, |
Daß ich noch heute komm zu dir | so that I can come to You today |
Und Buße tu den Augenblick, | and make repentance this instant |
Eh mich der schnelle Tod hinrück, | before swift death overtakes me, |
Auf daß ich heut und jederzeit | so that today and at all times |
