O Törichter! der sich von Gott entzieht |
O fool! that pulls away from God |
Und wie ein Jonas dort |
and like Jonah there |
Vor Gottes Angesichtes flieht; |
flees from God’s countenance; |
Auch unser Denken ist ihm offenbar, |
even our thoughts are apparent to Him, |
Und unsers Hauptes Haar |
and the hair of our heads |
Hat er gezählet. |
He has counted. |
Wohl dem, der diesen Schutz erwählet |
It is a good thing for him who cherishes this protection |
Im gläubigen Vertrauen, |
with faithful trust, |
Auf dessen Schluß und Wort |
and regards this word and promise |
Mit Hoffnung und Geduld zu schauen. |
with hope and patience. |
