English translation

Der Herr, Herr unser Gott, sei so mit euch,
The Lord, the Lord our God, be so with you
Als er mit eurer Väter Schar
as once with the throng of your forefathers
Vor diesem und auch jetzo war.
He was and is now.
Er pflanz euch Ephraim und dem Manasse gleich.
May He plant you like Ephraim and Manasseh,
Er lass euch nicht,
and not leave you,
Er zieh nicht von euch seine Hand.
nor withdraw His hand from you.
Er neige euer Herz und Sinn
May He incline your heart and mind
Stets zu ihm hin,
always to Him,
Dass ihr in seinen Wegen wandelt,
so that you walk in His ways,
In euern Taten weislich handelt.
and conduct yourselves wisely in your deeds.
Sein Geist sei euch stets zugewandt.
May His spirit be always turned towards you.
Wenn dieses nun geschicht,
If this now comes to pass,
So werden alle eure Taten
then all your deeds
Nach Wunsch geraten.
will accomplish their aims.
Und eurer frommen Eltern Segen
And the blessing of your virtuous parents
Wird sich gedoppelt auf euch legen.
will lay twofold upon you.
Wir aber wollen Gott mit Lob und Singen
But we will, with praise and singing,
Ein Dank—und Freudenopfer bringen.
bring to God an offering of thanks and joy.
