Wohl aber uns, dass Tag und Nacht |
But well it is for us that day and night |
Die Schar der Engel wacht, |
The host of angels keeps watch, |
Des Satans Anschlag zu zerstören. |
[Ready] to destroy Satan’s plot. |
Ein Daniel, so unter Löwen sitzt, |
A Daniel who sits among lions |
Erfährt, wie ihn die Hand des Engels schützt. |
Finds out how the hand of the angel protects him. |
Wenn dort die Glut |
When the blaze there |
In Babels Ofen keinen Schaden tut, |
In Babylon’s furnace does no harm, |
So lassen Gläubige ein Danklied hören, |
Then [the] believers [within the furnace] let a song of thanks be heard; |
So stellt sich in Gefahr |
Likewise, in [times of] peril, |
Noch itzt der Engel Hülfe dar. |
Still now the angels’ aid presents itself. |
