German text

English translation

Auf, mein Herz, des Herren Tag
Arise, my heart, the Lord’s day
Hat die Nacht der Furcht vertrieben:
has driven off the night of fear:
Christus, der im Grabe lag,
Christ, who lay in the grave,
Ist im Tode nicht geblieben.
has not remained in death.
Nunmehr bin ich recht getröst,
From now on I am truly comforted,
Jesus hat die Welt erlöst.
Jesus has redeemed the world.
(“Auf, mein Herz, des Herren Tag,” verse 1)
