Who has turned to us in mercy |

Vom hohen Himmelsthron |
from the high throne of heaven |
Zum Welterlöser sendet. |
has sent to us as Redeemer of the world. |
Erst stellte sich Johannes ein |

Und mußte Weg und Bahn |
and would prepare the way and path |
Dem Heiland zubereiten; |
for the Savior; |
Hierauf kam Jesus selber an, |
then Jesus Himself came, |
Die armen Menschenkinder |
poor humanity |
Und die verlornen Sünder |
and lost sinners |
Mit Gnad und Liebe zu erfreun |
to delight with grace and love, |
Und sie zum Himmelreich in wahrer Buß zu leiten. |
