Komm, mein Jesu, und erquicke,	Come, my Jesus, and restore,
Und erfreu mit deinem Blicke!	And gladden with your gaze,
Diese Seele, die soll sterben,	This soul that shall die
Und nicht leben	And not live,
Und in ihrer Unglückshöhle	And in its misfortune-cavern
Ganz verderben.	Entirely decay.
Ich muss stets in Kummer schweben,	I must constantly hover in grief;
Ja, ach ja, ich bin verloren.	Yes, ah yes, I am lost [from salvation].
Nein, ach nein, du hassest mich.	No, ah no, you hate me.
Ach, Jesu, durchsüsse mir Seele und Herze.	Ah, Jesus, fill me with sweetness of soul and heart.
Komm, mein Jesu, und erquicke	Come, my Jesus, and restore
Mich mit deinem Gnadenblicke!	Me with your gaze of grace.
