My heart—while the entire world |
Bei Jesu Leiden gleichfalls leidet, |
with Jesus’ suffering likewise suffers; |
Die Sonne sich in Trauer kleidet, |
the sun drapes itself in mourning, |
Der Vorhang reißt, der Fels zerfällt, |
the curtain is rent, the crag crumbles, |
Die Erde bebt, die Gräber spalten, |
the earth trembles, the graves split open, |
Weil sie den Schöpfer sehn erkalten, |
since they behold the Creator growing cold; |
Was willst du deines Ortes tun? |
