Er kennt die rechten Freudenstunden, |
He knows the right time of joy, |
Er weiß wohl, wenn es nützlich sei; |
He knows well, when it is necessary; |
Wenn er uns nur hat treu erfunden |
If only He has found us faithful |
Und merket keine Heuchelei, |
and detects no hypocrisy, |
So kömmt Gott, eh wir uns versehn, |
then God comes, before we are aware of Him, |
Und lässet uns viel Guts geschehn. |
