This wish must rise |
zum Thron des Höchsten steigen, |
to the throne of the Highest; |
zu euch von seiner Allmachts Höhen |
down upon you from the heights of his omnipotence |
den Segen tausendfach herunter neigen. |
a thousandfold blessing must descend. |
Gewiß, der Eltern Flehen dringt zu dem Herrn, |
Surely the pleas of the parents reach the Lord, |
und er, der Herr, erhört es gern. |
and he, the Lord, fulfills them gladly. |
Jedoch, sofern zur Prüfung der Geduld |
Yet, regarding trials of patience, |
des ew’gen Vaters Gnad und Huld |
the eternal Father’s mercy and grace |
durch mancher Tränen Tal |
through many a tearful vale |
