English text

First Harlot

Words are weak to paint my fears;
Heart-felt anguish, starting tears,
Best shall plead a mother’s cause.
To thy throne, O king, I bend,
My cause is just, be thou my friend.

Second Harlot

False is all her melting tale.

Solomon

Justice holds the lifted scale.

Second Harlot

Then be just, and fear the laws.
