Thou fair inhabitant

From Solomon, HWV 67, Act I, Scene II

Composer
George Frideric Handel
Length
12 measures

English text

Solomon

Thou fair inhabitant of Nile,
Rejoice thy lover with a smile!

Queen

O monarch, with each virtue bless’d,
The brightest star that gilds the east:
No joy I know beneath the sun,
But what’s compris’d in Solomon.
With thee, how quickly fled the winter’s night,
And short is summer’s length of light.
