English translation

Flore; Pan

Flore; Pan

Il est temps que chacun se rassemble en ces lieux,
It is time for all to assemble in these parts,
Déjà l’Aurore vigilante
Already the vigilant Dawn,
Commençant sa route brillante,
Beginning its luminous journey
Précède le Soleil qui monte dans les Cieux
Precedes the Sun, which rises in the Heavens

About the text

  • Author: Joseph-François Duché de Vancy

Instrumentation

  • Flore (Soprano)
  • Pan (Basse)
  • Basse continue

Notes

“Jacquet de La Guerre’s original score was most likely written in five parts, after the tradition established by Lully. As only Ballard’s partition reduite survives, however, only the upper two instrumental parts and the basse continue are extant.” IMSLP
