1. Es schallt, o Gott, empor zu dir	1. O God, may my gratitude ring forth
der Dank aus froher Brust.	to you out of a joyous breast.
Mit diesem Danke schließen wir	With these thanks we now conclude
jetzt unsre Gartenlust.	our garden celebration.

2. Hier hörten wir zur Frühlingszeit	2. Here, in springtime, we listened
die Vögel unsrer Flur.	to the birds of our meadow.
Hier tönten um uns weit und breit	Here sounded far and wide around us
die Stimmen der Natur.	the voices of nature.

3. Hier sahn wir deine Gottesmacht	3. Here we saw your divine power
auch in dem kleinsten Wurm,	even in the smallest worm,
in jedes Baumes Blütenpracht,	in the blossoming glory of each tree,
im Sonnenschein und Sturm.	in sunshine and storm.

4. Wir sahn in jeder Sternennacht,	4. We saw, in each starry night,
Jehova Zebaoth,	Jehovah, Lord of Hosts,
die Wahrheit, die der Tor verlacht:	the truth, which the fool disparages:
Der Herr, der Herr ist Gott!	the Lord, the Lord is God!

5. Preis, Dank und Ehre schalle dir	5. Praise, thanks, and honor resound to you
aus unsrer frohen Brust!	out of our happy breasts!
